HOLIDAY - C2 - Carp, Barbel, and black Bass fishing on the river Duero.
Information
The river Duero flows west from the Sierra de Urbion range over 6500ft. in north central Spain through Portugal carrying huge amounts of water to the Atlantic Ocean. The hottest spot for Barbel to 1mt. Long is a 2mt. Weir on the junction of the Duero and Pisuerga rivers. Large Carp and Barbel can be found throughout the system, the Carp are visible everywhere and enormous bags are made every day, again you will probably have the river to yourself.
Places of interest include a fine Roman Bridge over the Duero in Simancas. The Duero valley is one of the top wine producing districts of Spain.
Hotels from £20 to £40 per night for 2 people in a double room. Campsite by the river or bring your Bivvy. Season - Open all year.
How to get there.
Ferry to Santander from Plymouth with Brittany ferries from approx. £188 for 2 people return, and drive down approx. 250miles on good roads.
Fly to Leon with Iberia or BA. Approx. £300 per person return and rent a car from £16 per day. Approx 1 hour away on new motorway. Cheap flights may be available to Madrid, which is only about 2 hours away by car.
