HOLIDAY - C3 - Carp, Black Bass, Zander, and Catfish on the river Ebro and the Mar de Aragon.
Information
The Mar de Aragon and the river Ebro has the biggest fish in Spain, Catfish of 200lbs. are caught regularly, on my last visit in August two of these monsters were reported at Caspe in one day. There are enormous quantities of Carp on which the Catfish feed. Black Bass as well. This dam system is more than 70 miles long with numerous inlets, also miles of river above. Outboard boats can be hired at about £14 per day, larger skippered boats are also available.
Places of interest include the Ruta de los Meandres, from Escatron to the Monestry of Rueda.
Season: Open all year
Hotels from £16 to £40 per night for two people in a double room.
Lake side Camp site. Outboard boat hire from apx. £14 per day. Many of the best fish are caught from the lake shore at the campsite.
How to get there.
Ferry to Santander from Plymouth with Brittany ferries from approx. £188 for 2 people return, and drive down apx. 220 miles on motorway.
Cheap flights are available to Barcelona about 100 miles away car rental from £16 per day.
