SEASONS

These vary river-by-river and from head waters to lower reaches but the following is a generalisation.

  • Salmon 19th March to 23rd July
  • Sea Trout 7th May to 30th September
  • Trout 26th March to 30th September
Please note that some districts may close two months earlier inthe case of trout. Most other specie have no closed season, except for some districts which have a closed season for course fish e.g. Malaga has a close season from 15 March - 15 June.

HOURS

Fresh water fishing in Spain is allowed only from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. One exception is the River Ebro, where you may fish until midnight for cat fish.

SIZE LIMITS

All specie have minimum size limits as most Spanish fish for the pot. Take limits are usual for game fish. Fortunately, more waters are adopting a catch and release policy these days.
